Orlando Pirates will look to break their winless streak in the Absa Premiership when they host Chippa United in a rescheduled match at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday 14 September 2019, kick-off at 15h00.
Pirates have gone three league matches without win (and without scoring a single goal in the sequence) after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Golden Arrows on Wednesday, August 28. The Buccaneers will be desperate to get their season back on track with a three-point haul.
Chippa’s winless run at the start of the campaign was extended to four matches when they were held 0-0 at home by Polokwane City on Wednesday, August 28. The Chilli Boys will be hoping they can further extend Pirates’ troubles so far this term.
In head-to-head stats, Chippa and Pirates have met in 12 league matches since 2012/13. The Buccaneers have claimed eight wins compared to three for the Chilli Boys, while just one game has been drawn. The Soweto side has won five of six home matches in the rivalry, suffering one defeat in the process.
Last season Pirates completed a league ‘double’ over Chippa, winning 1-0 in the Eastern Cape in August 2018 and 4-2 in the return game in Soweto in January 2019. The two league clashes in 2018/19 produced no less than three own goals.
Pirates’ line-up from their 0-0 draw with Arrows on August 28: Sandilands; Nyauza, Jele, Maela, Dlamini (Lorch 57′), Ndlovu, Mlambo, Nyatama, Makaringe, Mulenga (Muwowo 80′), Mhango (Mabasa 70′).
Chippa’s line-up from their 0-0 draw with Polokwane on August 28: Tignyemb; Nsabiyumva, Komane, Malepe Lentjies (Mbenyane 72′), Mashaba, Moyo, Damons, Manzini (Maziya 79′), Twala, Maphangule (Rakhale 64′).
